Since the age of six, Billy Joe Pando has been entertaining audiences throughout the region and the coast. 23 years of experience in his music career, BJ Pando is by far no amateur. He has experienced being a lead singer for various groups. He has a unique voice, charisma and a captivating stage presence.
He is multi-talented. He sings, writes, produces, arranges, plays keyboards, piano and owns his own recording studio in El Paso, where he produces and records upcoming talent. Pando’s music career began at an early age with support of his dream from both his mother and father, growing up in the Hacienda and ranchland barrios of El Paso.
He learned to break dance, picked up singing, and television acting. He had the opportunity to be part of an El Paso/Albuquerque musical group called the Borden Gang, where he starred in over 35 TV and radio commercials, with live performances promoting Borden’s dairy products. At the age of 12 he appeared twice on the International Latin TV show “Sabado Gigante”, and due to his young age, he was a stand-by for Showtime’s “The Mickey Mouse Club”.
The young Pando continued his musical ventures singing English and Spanish pop music, with his instrumental cassettes, anywhere possible. Some of his highlights as a young boy are; opening up for Menudo, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis’s, Bobby Ross Avila, Texas Artists; Selena Y Los Dinos, Sunny Ozuna, Joe Posada, and Little Joe.
In the late 90’s, BJ Pando continued to sing and tour with various El Paso variety groups. In 1999, Pando formed his own band, wrote and produced his first Independent Spanish album “Asi Es La Vida”, selling over 5,000 units at shows in El Paso, without a record deal, very little promotion and no retail distribution. He has opened up shows for over 15 Major Latin/Regional Groups in Texas including: Frankie J, Los Kumbia Kings, K-1, Intocable, Chicos Del Barrio, Los Palominos, Los Tigrillos, Michael Salgado, Limite, MDO, Jennifer Pena, Lupe Esparza, Bronco, Bobby Pulido, Jimmy Gonzalez and Pete Astudillo.
In April, 2008 BJ Pando was contracted to perform with the musical group “Captain Boom” and Royal Caribbean Cruiseline for an 8 month European Variety Show Tour. Pando is opening new doors, gaining the respect of many, proving his determination and his talent. His music is Soul. Pop, Latin and a "taste" of R&B, English and in Spanish. From aggressive and powerful vocals, a quick surprise of falsettos and his soft smooth tone is unique. His songwriting is sincere and meaningful. He is charismatic, intense and keeps you glued to the stage.
